What’s your strategy when it comes to choosing a bottle of wine? Did you read an article singing the praises of a supermarket’s newest offering? Do you purchase based on a nice label? Or like me, do you support Kylie Minogue’s career as a vintner?

That’s fine if you’re just buying a bottle to enjoy with pals at home – but what do you do when faced with potentially 100+ empty glasses needing filled at a wedding?

Suddenly you need to consider what everyone likes, how much they may drink and also how much you’ve got to spend. Whether you’re marrying at a dry-hire venue, or wine is your thing and you have particular bottles in mind, it’s reassuring to look to the experts for guidance. Experts like Perthshire-based MB Wine Services.

What is MB Wine Services?

Owner Murray Brown has over 10 years experience in wine, so knows how to nail finding bottles that complement your meal choices, budget and preferences.

As part of his wedding service, which includes coordination and delivery of the wine to the venue and glassware if required, couples are also invited to have a tailored wine tasting with Murray.

Cheers! The Tie the Knot Scotland team had a tasty (and informative) afternoon

Murray popped into TTKS Towers to share his expertise with the team and I, and let’s just say it’s the most exciting (and tasty) working afternoon we’ve had in a while. We sampled three white and three red wines and found out about their origins and tasting notes, even participating in a quiz to test our new knowledge.

What can MB Wine Services offer at your wedding?

Couples can expect to try more tipples at their own tasting, as can those who book Murray for a private party (wouldn’t this be the perfect hen do experience?) with four reds, four whites and two sparkling options on offer.

Murray’s aim is to ensure that you “don’t let wine be a worry” and after spending the afternoon with him, I’d totally entrust my wedding wine list to him. He understands that different couples will have different requirements, so encourages anyone to reach out – regardless of how big or small their plans may be.

Don’t feel like you can only enlist Murray for a wedding. He’ll gladly offer his services for other celebrations, and even offers a monthly wine box subscription.

So, the next time I head to the supermarket to grab a bottle of wine for a Friday night of fun, I’ll no longer just hear the siren call of Ms Minogue bewitching me into buying a bottle – I’ll think of Murray’s advice too.
