Edinburgh Castle is located in the heart of Edinburgh on Castle Rock, a volcanic plug. It is situated at the west end of the Royal Mile, at the top of the Old Town.

It is important to note that weddings cannot be held at Edinburgh Castle from 1st June to 30th September.

Gatehouse Suite
Capacity: 34 people

The Gatehouse is situated above the main drawbridge entrance to the Castle. This stunning room offers an ideal space for up to 34 guests. Please note that access is via a spiral staircase with no lift.

Queen Anne Building
Capacity: 170 people

Dating from the 1700s, this building includes a glazed courtyard and bar area, plus the main ceremony and dining area. The building has the capacity of up to 120 guests for a wedding ceremony and breakfast and an evening reception for up to 170 guests inclusive.

Jacobite Room
Capacity: 150 people

The dramatic views from windows overlooking Princes Street and the Firth of Forth will provide a stunning backdrop to wedding receptions. Once a place of royal celebrations, Stirling Castle offers a lavish setting for an unforgettable wedding day. With stunning gardens and buildings filled with art, plus Scotland’s largest medieval banqueting hall, it’s perfectly suited for larger weddings.

There are also a number of areas for incredible photographs on your special day, including the Queen Anne Garden, the Renaissance Palace and the Royal Palace itself.

Stirling Castle is located in the city of Stirling, Scotland. Specifically, it sits atop a volcanic rock in the heart of Stirling, between Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The castle can be hired exclusively out-with visitor opening hours (after 6pm from April to September and after 5pm from October to March) for wedding ceremonies and receptions.

Depending on the space you choose inside the castle, you can host up to 300 people at a wedding. 

Chapel Royal
Capacity: 200 people

A spectacular choice for both wedding ceremonies and receptions, with a large stage ideally suited to a wedding band or other entertainment. Couples can host dinner in the Chapel Royal for a smaller group of guests, or have their drinks reception here before dining in the Great Hall. It is also wheelchair accessible.

The Great Hall
Capacity: 300 people

Round off a magical day with a reception in The Great Hall – Scotland’s largest medieval banqueting hall. This room has been beautifully restored to its 16th-century splendour and boasts a raised dais (a low raised platform/stage) area, ideal for top table seating or for dancing. It is also wheelchair accessible.

While there is not any accommodation onsite, there are several hotels nearby that can be recommended.
