There’s no question that Scotland is full of incredible places to get married, and we turned the spotlight to the south of the country to find some of the most picturesque wedding venues
Photographers Cameron Pagan of Hemera Visuals and John Parris of Parris Photography love shooting weddings in Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders. Here, they share some of their favourite locations for incredible wedding photos.
Wedding venues in Dumfries and Galloway
Cameron tells us: “There are so many amazing locations and venues in Dumfries and Galloway that it’s hard to pick out just a few favourites – they all offer something unique. The Galloway Forest Park proves you don’t need to go to the Highlands for stunning scenery – it’s right on our doorstep.
“I could spend all day shooting pictures at Kinmount House near Annan – I always get carried away there. GG’s Yard is another stunning venue, with amazing original features, while Auchen Castle near Mo at has that beautiful local charm.”

Getting married at the Scottish Borders
“I’m from the area, so I know these venues very well – which means my couples are in safe hands,” John tells us. “There is no shortage of choice at Branxholm Park: posing on the staircase or with the horse statues is always a winner.
“Schloss Roxburghe has had a huge refurbishment and is full of places to get great images inside and out. Duns Castle is another that works in any season in the grounds or indoors. Melrose Abbey, meanwhile, is always good for a dramatic shot, and you can head up into the surrounding landscape too.”
