The newly refurbished Largs coastal wedding venue now includes a spectacular duplex honeymoon suite, ceremony and reception room overlooking the Clyde, and dedicated wedding prep room

Brisbane suite at Brisbane House set for wedding ceremony

How gorgeous is the revamped Brisbane Suite for ceremonies? Just look at that view! The glass front, which overlooks Largs Bay and the Clyde, opens onto a private terrace.

Brisbane House was already known as one of Ayrshire’s most popular wedding addresses, but since being acquired by Manorview, it’s been treated to a full refurbishment.

The leading Scottish hotel and hospitality group owns and runs 11 other incredible venues across Scotland, including Cornhill Castle, Bowfield Hotel & Spa and Boclair House, all of which are highly regarded for weddings.

Brisbane House capacity for weddings

The flexible ceremony and reception space at Brisbane House, which has capacity for up to 130 guests during the day and 200 in the evening, has had a stunning upgrade thanks to substantial investment. The highlight is its glass front that opens onto a private terrace overlooking Largs Bay.

The Brisbane suite also has its own bar, disco ball, colour-changing LED lighting and new dance floor – everything that’s needed for an unforgettable evening celebration!

Brisbane House exclusive use weddings

Couples booking the venue for their wedding will have the place totally to themselves, as it’s now exclusive use.

They’ll be able to kick off their special day by getting ready in the brand-new Wallace Suite – a dedicated wedding prep room complete with bar area, smart TV, and three dressing tables for hair, makeup, and final touches.

The venue also has 17 refreshed guest bedrooms and a honeymoon suite that really has to be seen to be believed. Manorview has built a reputation for fabulous honeymoon suites and the Caledonian Suite here is no different. The two-floor space features luxury finishes, a large spiral staircase, spa bath, bar area with complimentary cocktails and panoramic views of the Clyde.

“You will fall in love with Brisbane House and must experience it in person for yourself,” says Susan Spence (pictured above)

How many weddings do you typically look after at Brisbane House each year?

We look after around 100 couples a year and have a wonderful team here in the venue as well as the support of Manorview as a group. We can accommodate 30 to 150 wedding guests, and our pricing has something for everyone. Our all-inclusive packages supply the DJ, cake, flowers and more, taking a lot of stress away from our couples.

What’s your favourite thing about Brisbane House?

The setting. Largs is a lovely seaside town that many people associate with days out with the family; that makes it such a special place to say “I do”. And nothing compares to the views over the Firth of Clyde. There’s a wealth of photo opportunities for you to capture it – the honeymoon suite’s balcony, for instance. It gives amazing, elevated shots with the seafront in the background.

The terrace is brilliant for a group shot and there is no better place than down on the seafront itself – it makes for stunning photographs. In fact, ceremonies at Brisbane House take place looking out to the water through floor-to-ceiling glass doors. In the summer, we can throw these open and have the ceremony on the terrace.

What tends to be the biggest challenge you face in coordinating a wedding?

Making sure the ceremony starts when it’s meant to – some of our happy couples can run a touch late! To avoid that, I always recommend a 2pm ceremony as I feel it gives you enough time to enjoy the excitement of getting ready in the morning with your bridal party. We don’t want you to have to rush!

To enhance this, we have added a wedding prep room at Brisbane House; it’s the perfect space for the bridal party to relax in on the morning of the wedding and has been designed with loads of space for getting ready.

How does the rest of the day run after the ceremony?

First up is the drinks reception. We like to offer everyone a selection of drinks to go with their canapés. While you and your guests are relaxing in our large reception area or on the terrace that looks out to sea, our team will be busy setting up the tables for your meal in the Brisbane Suite.

If your ceremony is at 2pm, we usually recommend calling the guests to be seated at 4pm. This allows plenty of time for speeches before the meal is served, so the bridal party can enjoy their dinner without being nervous.

We include a complimentary glass of prosecco in all our wedding packages – it’s so nice for everyone to be able to toast the speeches. Many couples will add on our drinks packages which are served with the meal (the most popular is two bottles of wine and six bottles of beer per table).

Once dinner is over, the Brisbane Suite will be transformed for the evening reception. Our team can have this ready in as little as 30 minutes, so there’s loads of time for partying into the night!
