Madonna and Guy Ritchie: married at Skibo Castle near Dornoch
Before their public split in 2008, Madonna and Guy Ritchie tied the knot at Skibo Castle near Dornoch on December, 22nd 2000.
At the time, the singer said she and her husband had chosen the location because of his Scottish heritage. And, just one day earlier, they got their son Rocco baptised at Dornoch Cathedral.
As reported by the BBC, Madonna said: "We wanted to find a place that was really hard to get to, because when people have to work to get somewhere, you know they really want to be there."
Emma Thompson and Greg Wise: married at Loch Eck in Argyll and Bute
Actress Emma Thompson married her long-time partner Greg Wise in a converted barn on the shores of Loch Eck in July 2013.
Despite it raining for the entire day, Emma told The Standard it was "heaven" and that it had been a "wonderful day".
The wedding itself had been kept a secret right up until the last minute and the only guests were a select group of family members and close friends. Their three-year-old daughter Gaia was a flower girl.
Simon Pegg and Maureen McCann: married at Òran Mór in Glasgow
Actor Simon Pegg and Maureen McCann got married in 2005 in the Partick area of Glasgow. The couple said their vows at St Simon’s Church, which sadly burned down in 2021, and then carried on the party at Òran Mór.
Their wedding saw fellow famous faces – such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin, Martin Freeman, and many others – descend on Glasgow.
Zara Tindall and Mike Tindall: married at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh
The royal and the former rugby player tied the knot on July, 30th 2011 at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh.
The Scottish location is believed to have been selected due to Zara's love of her late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth's Balmoral estate.
On their wedding eve, Zara and Mike also threw a boat party on the Royal Yacht Britannia.
Rose Leslie and Kit Harrington: married at Wardhill Castle in Aberdeenshire
Kit Harington and Rose Leslie – aka Jon Snow and Ygritte on Game of Thrones – got married on June, 23rd 2018 in Aberdeenshire.
The ceremony took place at Rayne Church in the village of Kirkton of Rayne, and the reception moved to Wardhill Castle. Rose's family have owned the castle, which was constructed in the 1100s, for nine centuries.
Lorna McNee and Dawn McIntyre: married in Glasgow
Critically-acclaimed chef Lorna McNee – who heads up the kitchen at Michelin-starred Glasgow restaurant Cail Bruich – tied the knot with her long-term partner Dawn McIntyre in August 2021.
The couple, who first met when they worked together at Gleneagles Hotel, almost never made it down the aisle though!
Sharing some wedding snaps on Instagram, Lorna revealed that she had actually forgotten the marriage certificates!
Thankfully it all worked out in the end as she told followers: "We had the absolute best day. It was such a blast. After me forgetting the marriage certificates and having a mad panic right before ceremony, it became the best day ever. Thank you so much to everyone for coming, you all made it so special in every single way."
Graham McTavish and Garance Doré: married at Borthwick Castle in Gorebridge
After a year and a half of dating, Outlander star Graham McTavish (who plays Dougal MacKenzie in the Starz series) proposed to Garance Doré, the author, illustrator, and founder of the skincare line Doré. The pair got engaged in Edinburgh on 23rd, August 2022.
Fast forward just a few months, and the couple tied the knot at Borthwick Castle in January 2023.
Their romantic ceremony, originally reported by Vogue, included a quaich, also known as ‘the loving cup’, which was made by Hamilton and Inches in Edinburgh for the occasion with silver deer heads on either side acting as handles.

Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott: engaged at Edinburgh Castle
Property Brothers host Jonathan Scott proposed to New Girl star Zooey Deschanel after four years together.
The pair got engaged at Edinburgh Castle while on a family trip to Scotland in August 2023.
Zooey and Jonathan then kept fans up to date by posting cute snaps from their holiday around Scotland. They even revealed some interesting details about their Scottish heritage after discovering that their families had lived just 15 minutes apart in Lanark!

Jennifer Reoch and Jamie Hunter: married at Pollok House in Glasgow
TV and radio presenter Jennifer Reoch, who is also former Miss Scotland, married her longterm partner Jamie Hunter on 7th October 2023 at Pollok House in Glasgow.
The bride wore a stunning Eleganza Sposa dress for their intimate celebrations, and the couple surprised their guests with a piñata wedding cake that looked like a real cake.
Jennifer previously told TTKS about her wedding planning journey and big day, saying: "We knew we wanted to keep things small, personal and close to where we stay in Glasgow."

Jordan Harvey and Madison Fendley: married at Dalhousie Castle in Bonnyrigg
Following an almost two-year engagement, Scottish country music singer Jordan Harvey and dancer Madison Fendley tied the knot at Dalhousie Castle in January 2024.
To add to the romance of their day, Jordan even wrote a new song for their first dance.

Saoirse Ronan and Jack Lowden: married at Edinburgh Central Registrar’s Office
Little Women actress Saoirise Ronan is thought to have married her Mary Queen of Scots co-star Jack Lowden last year.
At the time, it was reported that their intimate wedding took place at Edinburgh Central Registrar’s Office in mid-July 2024.
While the lovely news still hasn't publicly announced by the couple, the American-Irish actress and Scottish actor were first rumoured to be dating in 2018 and have kept their relationship fairly private ever since.
Jilly Cross and Andy Halliday: married at City Chambers in Glasgow
Internet sensation and Scottish influencer Jilly Cross (known online as Jilly Isabella) tied the knot with former Rangers footballer Andy Halliday in July 2024 in Glasgow.
The couple shared the happy news on Instagram with a series of candid snaps of them walking around the city centre and also in the back of a taxi.
Jilly – who is now expecting her first baby with Andy – wore a dress from her own brand Dula Label, meanwhile Gemma Purdon captured the photos, Olive Flowers Glasgow provided the flowers and the day was planned by Laura McCranor Events.

One Tree Hill actress Jana Kramer and Scottish ex-football coach Allan Russell tied the knot at the beautiful Carnell Estate in July 2024.
The couple had an intimate ceremony with just 35 guests, and the actress called in a Scottish glam team, including celebrity stylist Pam Doc and makeup artist Stacey Toner.

Amber Anderson and Connor Swindells said 'I do'' at Boath House in Nairn in October 2024 after meeting on the set of Autumn de Wilde's Emma.
Their rescue dog Moose acted as the ring bearer on their special day, plus the couple hosted a traditional ceilidh (which saw the bride change into a second iconic Vivienne Westwood dress) and actor Alistair Petrie, who plays Connor’s dad in Sex Education even officiated the ceremony.

Georgia Toffolo and James Watt: married in Gardenstown in Aberdeenshire
Former Made in Chelsea star Georgia Toffolo and BrewDog founder James Watt said 'I do' on March 1st, 2025 in a very low-key church ceremony in Aberdeenshire.
After giving guests only two days’ notice of the nuptials, James explained to his Instagram followers that the church was where his great-grandparents got married in 100 years ago.
The couple then boarded a fishing boat in the North Sea, with Georgia writing on Instagram: "James and I got married today. 1st March will forever be the best day of my life - the day I became your wife. We eloped! Guests: whoever could get here with 48 hours notice! Temperature: 6°C. Wind: 17 knots North Westerly. Location: North East Scotland. To our family and friends who aren't with us, we will celebrate with you soonest!"
The couple then adopted a more lavish approach to their honeymoon and stayed The Fife Arms in Braemar.
