What’s on the rails at Fife’s best bridal boutiques? Amy Shearer catches up with two fashion experts for a stylish overview of their favourite looks for the year ahead
If something catches the eye of a person who looks at wedding dresses for a living (nice job!), it must be worth talking about. These bridal experts see hundreds (probably thousands) of dresses each year, so if they’re shouting about a particular detail or designer, there’s going to be a good reason for it.
We asked the fashion experts at Kudos Bridal Boutique Dunfermline and Amy King Bridal to share their top frocks in Fife at the moment, giving you inspiration for you when you start shopping. We are glad it’s not us having to choose between these brilliant beauties…
Kudos Bridal Boutique Dunfermline
“We’ve been a proud Essense of Australia stockist since we opened,” says the Dunfermline boutique’s Megan Carberry. “The brand’s timeless gowns are perfectly designed for brides in search of classic styles with a modern twist, and there’s everything from ballgowns to boho. One of our favourites is the show-stopping style D3794 – an ultra-modern satin A-line dress with a ruched bodice, covered buttons and a daring split.”
Also shaking up the rails is another Aussie label, Maggie Sottero. “We were drawn immediately to Maggie Sottero’s romantic designs and jumped at the chance to become a stockist – we absolutely love this brand’s aesthetic,” says Megan.
“The fact that almost every style can be personalised to fit a bride’s needs is a huge bonus. The Charlize dress is the perfect pick if you’re looking for minimalism – the corseted bodice and detachable sleeves are so on-trend for this season. We cannot get enough of Charlize in store!”
The most recent designer to be stocked at Kudos is Luna Novias. Megan says it is quickly becoming a favourite at the boutique: “From the same designers as the wonderful Rosa Clará, this collection is full of personality and really works for contemporary brides.
Everything about the style Caritina has us falling in love – just look at that guipure lace bodice and those voluminous detachable sleeves!”
Amy King Bridal
“We have taken on three new designers this year – their gowns are so good, we couldn’t resist,” smiles Amy King, owner of the much-loved Kirkcaldy boutique which moved to bigger new premises on Dunniker Road in late 2023.
“We have had our eye on Madi Lane for a while now, so when the new Serene collection came out with an affordable price point and on-trend designs, we knew we had to have it for our brides.
“We also brought Wtoo by Watters back to the store,” continues Amy. “My own wedding dress was a Wtoo, so it’s a personal favourite. The label’s current season is so good, and I know all the latest shapes and fabrics will make our brides feel their best.”
Brides in Fife can now get their hands on looks fresh from the runway too, as Amy explains: “Our final new designer is WONÁ Concept. When I saw these designs at a trade fair in Barcelona I was blown away. We call them our ‘couture gowns’, but the price point is amazing compared to other couture lines.”
