Eight Yards: modern Scottish grooms' Highlandwear outfits
Eight Yards, with kilt shops in Edinburgh, Musselburgh and Dundee, loaned us two handmade modern kilt outfits crafted from premium materials for our shoot. Model Jack’s look featured standout details like a fly plaid, plain- and tartan-mix kilt and a two-tone brogue sporran, while dad Peter’s navy K2 jacket and waistcoat stood out thanks to contrast buttonhole stitching.

Jack’s outfit featured a Tarbert tartan kilt, bow tie and fly plaid to give the groom prominence. Dad Peter wore a green tweed jacket which tied to Jack’s ensemble by way of a tie and pocket square in the same Tarbet tartan.

Spirit of the Clyde is one of Glasgow kilt specialist Slanj Kilts’ most popular tartans. And it’s not hard to see why. Jack wore a kilt in the check and Peter tartan trews which is a lovely way to tie father and son’s outfits together. Matching midnight-blue Crail jackets and brown brogues finished off the looks perfectly.
Modern wedding suits from Slater Menswear
A three-piece suit is a wedding outfit staple and as one of the UK’s biggest tailoring retailers, Slater Menswear has a huge selection to choose from in various cuts, fabrics and colours. For our photoshoot, groom Jack wore a Sawyers and Hendricks tailored-fit suit in dark green and dad model Peter opted for a similar tailored-fit three-piece in beige tweed herringbone.

Our location for the day, Rosebery Steading, near Gorebridge in Midlothian, offers a stylish and secluded countryside setting for unforgettable weddings of up to 100 (seated).

Modern barbering and grooming in Glasgow
Joanne Woods and Robbie Gemmell from Kings Barbershop, the home of modern barbering in Glasgow, were on hand the morning of the shoot to groom the models’ hair and beards.
The barber chain, a favourite with many footballers, has three shops across the city (in Clydebank, Knightswood and Great Western Road in the west end), each with a talented crew who are poised to get grooms wedding-ready, whether they need a tidy-up trim, restyle, beard shape-up or an old-fashioned straight-edge razor shave.
