What’s in their bags? From the savvy savers to the splurge worthy, these hair and beauty pros reveal the products they can’t be without

AMMAZING Hair and Makeup Team

Director and stylist Anne Marie McElroy of AMMazing Hair and Makeup Team not only takes us from high street to high end, but from hair to makeup with her top picks.

To keep locks fresh at an affordable price point, she loves L’Oréal PLI Spray as “a mouldable styling product that doesn’t leave the hair dull,” while the pricier Vieve Nova Glow Highlighter is worth the spend thanks to the “beautiful glow” it creates.

Nicola Farquhar Makeup

Paisley-based makeup artist Nicola recommends applying e.l.f. Halo Glow Liquid Filter underneath your foundation if you’re looking to achieve that “lit-from-within” glow.

If your budget can stretch a wee bit further, she covets Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base – “a gorgeous moisturiser/primer hybrid that provides the perfect makeup base.”

Makeup by Leigh Blaney

Looking for an eyeshadow palette that’s on point? For makeup artist Leigh, the search stops with Makeup By Mario’s Ethereal Palette. “It has all the best bridal shades and textures – from natural to glam to matte – with shimmers that catch the light without being too much.”

For the perfect flick, Leigh has found herself sticking by an oldie but goldie: her favourite Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner. “It’s gentle enough to use in the waterline, long lasting, and unlike a lot of the high-end ones I’ve tried, doesn’t dry out too quickly.”

Colleen Davidson Artistry

“They’re just iconic aren’t they?” beauty stylist Colleen says of Charlotte Tilbury’s lipsticks. “From the formula and range of shades to the luxe packaging, there’s a reason so many of my brides opt for a wee touch of CT in their clutch bag,” she says.

When styling bridal hair, Colleen swears by an anti-static hair teasing comb – an incredibly versatile tool that ensures every strand is both textured and perfectly placed.

Danielle Dickson Makeup Artist

For a strong application from start to finish, see Danielle’s musthaves – e.l.f. Power Grip Primer and Morphe Continuous Setting Mist.

“I actually use e.l.f. primer on most of my clients now. If you have trouble with your makeup not lasting, this is the product for you,” says Danielle – a good tip if ever we’ve heard one.

Bridal makeup needs to last the pace, Danielle explains, and for that she sends in Morphe spray to keep the glamface in place until the early hours.

Carol Fairfield Makeup Artist

For skin luminosity and hydration, makeup pro Carol loves using L’Oréal True Match Nude Plumping Tinted Serum for photoshoots and on her brides.

When it comes to lashes, Carol shares that Diorshow Maximiser 3D Primer and Le Volume Révolution De Chanel mascara are a “powerhouse combo” she “uses religiously”.

Conditioning the lashes first helps create more volume and length before applying her “alltime favourite mascara”.

The Bride To Be

Hair stylist Maureen Crolla of The Bride To Be gets the exact finish she requires for her brides with her ghd Original Hair Straightener backed up by her José Eber HST Clipless Curling Iron.

The final touch? Her old faithful L’Oréal Paris Elnett Normal Hold Hairspray tops it all off and locks it in. “As a wee gesture, I always have a handbag size Elnett hairspray that I give to my brides,” Maureen notes.

Love Hair Glasgow

For instant volume and a boost to the hair, Love Hair Glasgow’s Lyndsey Kerr loves using got2b Volume Styling POWDER’ful.

“It keeps your updo in place all day,” she says. Then, for those times she’s really wanting to indulge in some thorough hair care, the K18 Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask treatment is quick and effective in only four minutes.

According to Lyndsey, it’s a worthwhile step for brides, as “damaged and dry hair is much more difficult to style”.
